Standing with one foot in the West and one in the People's Republic of China, I have become increasingly aware of the need to demystify the ancient tradition of Chinese medicine for the well-being of Western women. Born in China and educated there in both Chinese and Western medicine, and having had the opportunity and good fortune to have spent the past sixteen years in Canada, I have come to understand better what Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has to offer the West.
I have worked with women who are disillusioned with allopathic (also known as western) medicine but who experience effective results through the Chinese approach. They more often than not attribute their health to their bi-weekly or monthly acupuncture, massage treatments and herbal remedies. And while this is true, there is also so much in terms of ongoing and preventative self-care that each woman can do herself. The empowerment of patients is a significant aspect of my philosophy. I am passionate about helping women become aware of new ways of relating to their bodies, hearts and minds and understand the role that they can plan to support themselves as they evolve through their feminine cycles and their lives.
How we live each day has profound and far-reaching consequences for our womanhood today and into the future. By supporting the ongoing natural rhythms in our bodies, hearts and minds, we have the opportunity to maintain and restore our well-being, and through our interconnectedness, impact those around us and the environments in which we live.
